…ROMEO…

(A journal entry I made when I was in 2nd year high school - - - re: Romeo's Blue Skies/ Mga Munting Pangarap ni Romeo. Grabe lang. This was one of my favorite shows noong bata pa 'ko. Katams eh. Haha)

“Oh! Romeo!” Maybe, you’re thinking of Romeo and Juliet but ah! ah! It’s not what you think. For sure by now you’re curious why Romeo, if it’s not related to the popular novel written by William Shakespeare. Well, it’s because Romeo is one of my favorite cartoons (you know! I’m an “otaku” or anime lover! Yeah!) Have you watched “Mga Munting Pangarap ni Romeo” which was aired in ABS-CBN last summer? If your answer is ‘yes’, well you’re very lucky and thank you for watching! Hehehe! But if ‘no’, oh! Poor jerk! (just kidding!).

The story is about Romeo who is kind, hard-working and loving son. His age is probably thirteen years old. He belongs to a poor family and they only have one small farm of corn. Unfortunately, it was burned during the festival in their town. His father got sick and they have no money to pay a doctor, so he decided to sell himself to Louini, the man who buys boy children to sell in Miland, also for them to work, particularly, to clean chimneys.

In his journey going to Miland, together with Piccolo (his cute and little pet, I don’t know what kind eh!), he met Alfred who was at first very mysterious because he never talked to Romeo. But when Romeo swam in the river to get his bag that contains important thing (because it was stolen and dropped in the river), Alfred became a friend of him. Unluckily, they were separated in Miland because Romeo was bought by Mang Ross.

Romeo experienced many difficulties in working but he found his real friends. They named their friendship “Ang Samahan ng Itim na Magkakapatid” because their work is to clean chimneys in Miland and they always become dirty everytime they clean. Despite Romeo’s work, he met Dr. Casela, a very kind teacher and doctor who thought him how to read and write. Also, he met Bianca, Alfred’s missing sister, and together they studied in Dr. Casela’s house.

Alfred, Romeo’s bestfriend, has a very terrible disease, pneumonia, but they didn’t know it. In Alfred’s last day, he’s together with Romeo, there he died with a smile in his pale face.

One year passed or the next summer came after Romeo and other chimney-cleaners made their contract, their debt was at last fully paid. They went back to their own towns and leave Miland happily. When Romeo got home, his family was very glad and thankful to God. Also, his father is now in good condition.

Ten years later, Romeo became a teacher in his own town. He and Bianca got married and they had a baby son, know what? They named him Alfred because they will never forget their bestfriend.

“Hey! Are you still awake after that long story-telling? Hehehe!” I’m glad to share Romeo’s story to you eh! Now, did you get what I mean? It’s simply complicated. I chose Romeo because he’s a mode of faith, love and service that every Paconian should be.

This is a must watch! Nakakakilabot pa rin talaga hanggang ngayon. Sayang wala akong makitang opening na Tagalog version eh xD
